2013 Capital Improvement Project

2013 Capital Improvement Project

In August 2013, Rhododendron Water Association completed a $60,000 Capital Improvement project that consisted of re-building our extremely eroded Diversion Dam that was originally constructed in 1951 at the water system head-works. It was the culmination of a 2-year process of engineering and approved design, securing the necessary permits, finding a qualified contractor and accumulating the necessary funds.

Through the hard work and dedication of Water Master, David Jacob and with the support of the RWA Board, the project was started on the 8th of August 2013 and dedicated on the 21st of August 2013.

The new diversion dam meets all the requirements set forth by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife as a fish friendly diversion and meets the strict natural stream standards of the US Forest Service.

We have compiled a slide show of the work accomplished and a Time Lapse view created by the Forest Service. The Time-Lapse is a large file and may take some time to down load, but very interesting to watch.
